Mile High! Mile High! Mile High!!! Saturday, September 17th
Sorry we’ve been absent this week. We’ve been crazy busy trying to get books read and I was in
Denver Tuesday and Wednesday at the Blink 182/A Day To Remember Concert. And
yes, it was fan-fucking-tastic! An absolute blast, but I am so happy to be
home. I missed my Kindle. I might have slightly missed my children, too.
Oh my gosh, you guys! I can’t even believe that the Mile
High Author Event is THIS weekend! TWO short days away! This has crept up on us
and we haven’t had a chance to read everything that we had originally planned to.
That would have been a small miracle with how many amazing authors there are
attending this event and how few hours there are in a day. We are still
incredibly excited to meet all of these spectacular authors and all of our
fellow smut enthusiasts! We have a couple more reviews for you guys tonight.
Stroked by Meghan Quinn & WILD by Adriane Leigh.
Stroked by Meghan Quinn
Stroked is the story of Olympic swimmer Reese King and Personal
Assistant Paisley.
Reese is stuck in a fake relationship(set up by his
publicist) with conceited and, I’m pretty sure, mentally unstable, socialite
& heiress, Bellini Chambers.
Paisley is forced to take a job as Bellini and Reese’s
PA in a last ditch effort to make it in the world of film production. She gets
more than she bargained for…
There are chapters written in Bellini’s POV and I am
going to be completely honest… I had an extremely hard time reading her
perspective. I skimmed a lot of it. Well, almost all of it after the first
chapter. She is abhorrent, self-centered, delusional, a horrible human being, and
completely bat shit crazy. I wanted to strangle her with my bare fucking hands.
I would have had zero remorse. I’m sure of it. I haven’t felt such disgust for
a fiction character since Dolores Umbridge. Anybody that knows me, knows that
means this is serious.
I waited for there to be reasoning behind her POV being
included, but it never came. I’m still not exactly sure why it was added. A
fellow reader had mentioned that it might have been for the role Bellini played
toward the end of the book, but I still don’t feel she was necessary for
character or story development. You could tell just how atrocious she was from
the other two POVs.
She, however, did not completely ruin this book for me.
It was still sexy, funny, sweet, and had that slow burn quality I love so much.
This is a solid 4 star read!
We can’t wait to meet Meghan this weekend at the
signing.
WILD by Adriane Leigh
WILD is the first in a trilogy. It is the story of Lane
Wild and Kat Kennedy.
Kat moves to a small town in Maine to escape a life she
no longer wants to live. She is closed off and not interested in a
relationship. She makes this abundantly clear.
The book starts out with her remembering the happenings
of a drunken one night stand. Or so she thought it was…
She starts seeing this sexy AF mystery man all over this
small town and discovers his name is Lane Wild. Known just as, Wild, to
everyone else.
He’s harboring a few secrets of his own.
Will they open up and let the other in, or will their
secrets consume them? Life isn’t always like a fairytale. Happily ever after
doesn’t always work out for everyone.
I give this book 5 stars. I truly enjoyed it and can’t
wait to read Ridge (#2) & Slade (#3).
We are so excited to be meeting Adriane and all the
other authors at the event this weekend!
